Section Details
Ideal Applications Cutting thicker mild steel sections.
Cutting steel pipe, angle, bar and fabrication components.
General workshop cutting where durability is more important than a very thin kerf.
Suitable Materials Mild steel.
Carbon steel.
General ferrous metal.
Steel pipe, bar and angle.
Recommended Machine 115 mm angle grinder with correct guard fitted.
Best For General-purpose steel cutting where a stronger, thicker disc is preferred.
Do Not Use For Stainless steel unless the product label confirms suitability.
Side grinding or heavy side pressure.
Precision thin cutting where a 1.0 mm disc is more suitable.
Practical Workshop Note Use steady pressure and avoid forcing the disc. A thicker cutting disc removes more material than a 1.0 mm disc.

Cutting discs are designed for straight cutting only. They must not be used for side grinding or heavy sideways pressure. Correct use helps reduce the risk of disc breakage, kickback and poor cutting control.

  • Using a cutting disc for grinding.
  • Overloading the disc to make the cut faster.
  • Cutting without supporting the workpiece.
  • Changing direction while the disc is in the cut.
